At the same time, it is also reflected in the dimensions, but the differences could be more dramatic in the case of robotic vacuum cleaners. If you have a larger apartment and more mess, for example, because of animals, choosing a capacity of 0.5 l and higher is better.


Robotic vacuum cleaners are quieter than regular vacuum cleaners, with noise levels ranging from 50 to 60 dB. Choosing a quieter model allows for comfortable use at home without disturbance.

Features and equipment

These two aspects greatly influence the final price of the vacuum cleaner, so we will break them down a bit and get an overview of which features are essential and which are more of a matter of personal preference. Then it’s up to you what you’ll pay extra for.

For a robotic vacuum cleaner to be effective, it should not lack rotating brushes. These help sweep dirt into the intake opening and thus compensate for lower performance. They also handle hair and pet dander better, making them much more effective on hard floors and carpets than brushless models.
Some models have both rubber and self-cleaning brushes. The advantage is the brushes on the sides of the vacuum cleaner, which help sweep dirt to the suction opening and thus expand the vacuum cleaner’s reach. New on the market are vacuum cleaners with a unique bar for vacuuming on the wall, which ensures a perfect result.

Automatic charging and docking functions

Another essential function is automatic charging and docking. Simply put, the robot will realise when it is getting low and head back to the base to recharge. Automatic docking means the vacuum cleaner will return to the docking station after cleaning. So it shouldn’t happen that the vacuum cleaner runs out or turns off, for example, under the bed, and you won’t be able to find it.
Some models do not have these functions, but for ease of use, we recommend those with them. The problem can arise if you have cables lying on the ground or need to check whether the vacuum cleaner fits comfortably under the furniture. In this case, it can become tangled in cables or stuck under the chair, and then there is nothing left for it to do but wait for you to free it.

Thanks to this, a robotic vacuum cleaner has already appeared on the market, with which you do not have to participate in cleaning at all; it can even take out the waste tank itself. Of course, the vacuumed dust and dirt do not disappear; the vacuum cleaner takes them to a docking station with a waste box, which still needs to be emptied occasionally.
According to the manufacturer, however, the waste box can hold up to 30 vacuum cleaner containers, so ideally, it is enough to take out its contents roughly once a month, which is a decent improvement compared to the daily emptying of the robot. The disadvantage is that a docking station with a magazine still takes up more space than a classic charging station and can thus obstruct the space. The magazine is also associated with the need to purchase additional bags.
More advanced stations are also equipped with containers for clean and dirty water. They suck dirty water from the vacuum cleaner, wash the mopping fabric, dry it and fill the vacuum cleaner tank with new clean water. This way, the device prepares autonomously for the next cleaning, and you don’t have to worry about anything else.
